How To Care for Your Soy Wax Candle
A little care goes a long way.
A candle is more than just a scent for your home. It can become part of your little rituals - a quiet evening, a slow morning or simply a moment to pause.

With a little care, you can enjoy your Slowly Sundays candle safely and get the most out of every burn.
Here are a few simple tips to keep your candle burning beautifully.
1. Let the First Burn Set the Memory
The first burn is one of the most important.
When lightning your candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface before blowing it out.
This helps prevent tunnelling, where the wax only melts around the center and leaves un-melted wax round the edges.
For the first burn, we recommend allowing enough time for the melt pool to reach close to the edges the jar.
A good rule of thumb: 1-2 hours for a 100g candle.
Avoid burning for too long at once.

2. Trim Your Wooden Wick
Before each burn, make sure the wooden wick is trimmed to around 5mm.
A shorter, clean wick helps create a more controlled flame and a smoother burn.
If the wick has become too longer or has a small amount of charred material on it, simply trim it gently before the next burn.
Always trim the wick when the wax is completely cool.
3. Keep the Candle Away from Draughts
Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from fans, air conditioners, open windows and strong air movement.
A draught can cause the flame to flicker unevenly, which may lead to uneven melting or excess soot.
Let your candle burn in its own little quiet space.
4. Don't Burn It All the Way Down
For safety, stop burning your candle when approximately 1cm of wax remains at the bottom.
Never allow the flame to burn directly against the bottom of the container.
Once you've reached this point, it's time to say goodbye to the candle - and perhaps find a new scent for your next slow moment.
5. Never Leave a Burning Candle Unattended
This one is simple but important.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep it away from the children, pets, curtains and anything that can easily catch fire.
If you leave the room, simply blow out the candle and enjoy it again later.
6. Let It Cool Before Moving
After blowing out your candle, allow the wax to cool and solidify completely before moving or storing it.
The container and melted wax can remain hot for some time after the flame has been extinguished.
A little patience helps keep both you and your candle safe.
A Little Note on Soy Wax
Because our candles are made with soy wax, you may notice small imperfections such as a slightly uneven surface, frosting or changes in appearance after burning.
These are natural characteristics of soy wax and do not affect the way your candle performs.
Each candle is hand-poured in small batches, so no two will look exactly alike.
And that's part of what makes them yours.
Let It Burn Slowly
Candles are meant to be enjoyed, not rushed.
Light one when you have a little time to yourself.
Let the room fill with scent.
Put your phone down for a while.
Stay a little longer.
